Most people wrote Generals off for the season a week ago, following that dis- asterous opening night against Kitchener Rangers. But coach Ike Hildebrand and company worked hard all week, got steady perform- ances from everyone and dumped Hamilton Red Wings here last night. THIS YEAR'S edition of the Generals has. spirit. And it's catching. I stood with man- ager Ivan Davie at hockey games last winter in Whitby and he seldom said anything. Last night, he was like a cat on a hot, tin roof. And the crowd was caught up in the spirit of Hildebrand's youth- ful contingent. Spectators ap- preciated the fine checking of the club through the third period and it's unfortunate some 500 spectators from the previous week didn't make a return visit.
