If action on a certain} project seems to be required, get busy. If intuition tells you to "bid your time," have patience. The proper approach --and timing--will be a_ vital factor in the success of job or financial dealings. FOR THE BIRTHDAY If Thursday is your birthday, your outlook for the next year is very promising indeed. Occu- pational advancement and mon- etary gains are indicated and, with the exception of brief periods in late October and in early January, personal rela- tionships will be under most) beneficent aspects. You just entered a cycle in which your spirit of enterprise should be at a peak and where, according to the stars, the time fas come for pursuing your most ambitious plans--especial- ly those of long-range value. Promised high spots for accom- plishment: The entire month of October, early December, all of January, the first half of Feb- ruary, late April, the first week of May, the last half of June and next August. Well-wishers in job, social and family circles will be of assistance in furthering your interests this year, and there is every indication that before another 12 months have slipped off the calendar, you will find both personal and business affairs in very sound position. Most auspicious months for romance: October, next April and June; for travel and enliv- ening social activities: October, January, April and the period between June 15 and Sept. 1 of next year. Do not let a possible change of environment in late October dismay you. All signs point to such a change turning out definitely for the better. A child born on this day will be endowed with the. talents required to make a successful teacher, scientist, literary or music critic. SOCIAL NOTICES FORTHCOMING MARRIAGE Mr. and Mrs. Raymond F. Your Real Needs Coll For All Estate | hair of Princess English Girls Solve Problems, Introduced By Mini-skirt | By DAVID MILLER LONDON (CP)--The blonde with the long, long legs and the shortt, short skirt climbed onto the bus at London's Tra- falgar Square carrying a newspaper, an umbrella and her purse. Heads, mostly male, turned quickly and appraised the lat- est passenger on the crowded double-decker. Main object of their scrutiny was the mini- skirt. It was about eight inches above her knees, black in color and made of cotton. But it was just one of about 30 similar skirts on the lurching bus and, after a few seconds, interest died. Then the girl dropped her newspaper. Interest picked up again and men C¢raned their necks to see how the girl would han- dle the obviously delicate sit- uation. Would she bend over? Would she wait until! someone picked it up for her? Or _-- she just forget about it? The girl didn't hesitate. She seemed to fold like an accor- dion. Bending her knees and lowering herself to the floor with her back perfectly straight, the girl retrieved her newspaper and retained her dignity in one graceful swoop. NEED MINI-CROUCH It was another convincing victory for the skirt and the | mini-etiquette that goes with it "That's the mini-crouch," said Bea Woodsgate, a hair- dresser and a mini-skirt wearer from way back. "Every girl who wears a mini has to develop the crouch. It's like learning to kick your feet when you swim." Bea is a swinger. She works for one of Britain's top | hairdressers and has done the Margaret and the Duchess of Kent. She earns £15 ($45) a week, but boosts the total to £30 with tips and gifts. Most of her savings are | spent on clothes and most of | her clothes are mini. She has | mini-skirts, mini-dresses, mini-coats and even a micro- mini. | "That's a very, very short mini,"' she explained. "I don't wear it too often." Bea is like thousands of other English girls who wear the mini-skirt because it is | "with it." | And these thousands of | English girls, like Bea, found | they had to develop a lot of new talents to handle the short, short skirt. "After all," says Bea, "you can't just bend over wearing a mini-skirt, can you? You have to kind of lower yourself --that's the. mini-crouch. It doesn't take long to learn and after a while you do it uncon- sciously."" "Every skirt rides up when | you sit and with the mini it's | double-trouble. A normal skirt can be pulled down, but a mini doesn't have far to go." CARRY NEWSPAPER British ingenuity was called n. "The best thing to do is carry a newspaper or a big purse. And when you sit down, rest it on your knees, That way you don't feel so self-conscious." Regular nylon stockings and a mini-skirt don't mix either, but the body-stocking --a kind of nylon stocking- pants combination that comes up to the waist--solved that crisis, Others have arisen, but the skirts in London still are the shortest in the world. "We like our minis," said Bea. "'Once you wear one, every other skirt seems old hat.
