Recreation Department Conducts Fitness Tests Is your child physically fit? Duri ng the past four weeks Jerry Mays a member of the Sports Specialists Staff of the Oshawa Recreation Department, has been testing boys and girls ranging in age from 5-15 at some of the playgrounds. They were required to throw a_ softball, long jump, run a dash and see how many push-ups and sit-ups they could perform. A sel of standards was used which had been established by Toronto Township. Each child was aiming for a gold, blue or green award. The testing showed that i the softball throw the children betweer 7 and 12 were under the average standard whereas the 5 and 6 year olds and the 13-14 year olds were above. Legion Track Club Hosts Quad Meet Oshawa Legion Track Club will hold a track and field meet at McLaughlin Collegiate Cam- pus, this Sunday, with events for all age groups, ranging from bantam to 'open', both boys and girls. This meet will wind up the quad meet which began at the end of June. Two seconds of the quad meet had to be postponed and Oshawa offered to host both, at the same time.
