Life of Dylan Thomas -- Con- stantine Fitzgibbon This new book is another biography but differs in pur- pose. The Life of Dylan Thomas is not meant for casual enter- tainment but rather is a thorough scholarly document. Fitzgibbon was chosen to Hemingway in a manner which} Warm And Intimate Story In Ernest Hemingway's Life of Dylan's estate not only be- cause he was a contemporary of the poet but also as he was a close personal friend. The weak unstable character of Dylan Thomas is conveyed by the author who dwells upon his susceptibility to alcohol and his consequent drunkenness, Dylan created his own myth, one of a revellious wild young man, and died at the age of 39 attempting to live it. He was the son of a Welsh professor, a frustrated poet who encouraged and found self- fulfilment in his son's poetic accomplishments. Dylan's married life on the other hand was less successful and at times extremely turbu- lent. He enjoyed the compan- ionship of other poets and writ- ers, especially that of Pamala Johnson, and spent much time jin discussion and debate.
