& THE OSHAWA TIMES, Thursdey, August 17, 1947 GREEN GAEIS moved & big step closer to the OLA Junior 'A' finals and defence of their own championship Laurels, when they turned back Huntsville Hawks here the othe: night in such one- sided fashion. That win proved beyond recall that Oshawa's Junior 'A' lacrosse champions are just too good for the current opposition. They won this one in a one- sided fashion, even without the services of a couple of their stars in the starting line-up and two others who left early because of injuries. As a team effort, this has to be one. of the Green Gaels' better productions TONIGHT, here at home at the Civic Auditorium, Gaels play Huntsville again and re- gardless of Brian Thompson's -appearance in uniform for Huntsville. we see no reason to be in doubt of the outcome Green Gaels should march to the Minto Cup finals without 'a playoff defeat, certainly not at the hands of Huntsville This series should end with «the fourth game in Huntsville this Saturday night. While «talking about "Green Gaels" *--let's take a minute out to extend congratulations to the 'Green Geels Tykes -- who «this past weekend captured *the Al!-Ontario championship laurels. The players are to be 'congratulated and so is the 'organization -- that's where 'the future Junior 'A' cham- pions are sprouting. : BROOKLIN REDMEN are within reach of moving into «the OLA Senior 'A' champion- SSPORTS MENU | By Geo. Janice Godfrey was a triple medal winner at the Paraplegic Pan-Am Games held on the uni- versity of Manitoba grounds at the tail end of the Pan-American Games, Janice won her gold medal in the club throw with a toss of 55 feet. This is the farthest she has thrown the club in competition or in practice. She won her silver medals in the discuss event and in the 120 metre relay. More than 130 competitors from Canada, the United States, Argentina, Trinidad, Tobago, Mexico and Jamaica were enter- ed in the Games. In winning her gold medal, Janice nosed out a teamate from the Coasters Athletic Club of Toronto. She said, '"'this girl threw 47 feet in her last throw and I only had one throw left. When I tossed it 55 feet, the coach In the games the United States captured most of the medal honors, with Canada sec- ond and Jamaica third. Janice joined the Coasters Club three months ago when it was first formed. The Indepen- dent Order of Foresters paid part of the expenses for the team to compete in Winning while the rest was raised through benefits. With the Pan-Am competition over, Janice continues training for the Centennial Games to be held in Montreal Sept. 5-10. Next year the Parolympic Games are to be held in Tel Aviv, Israel and Janice hopes a spon- sor can be found to send a Cana- dian team over.
