Chief Anthony Enahoro made a fervent plea for understand- ing of the federal government's "police action" against the Ni- geriat Federation's wealthy Fastern region, which last month proclaimed itself the in- dependent Republic of Biafra. Information and labor minis- ter in the mixed military-civil- jan government of Maj.-Gen. Yakubu Gowon, Enahoro said Britain should not be neutral in the fight against breakaway jJeader Lt.-Col. Odumegwu Oju- kwu. Such a situa-! tion, with its inevitable disloca- | tions and frictions over bound-| aries, trade and division of as- sets, would produce wars ... the conflagration would become bloodier."" Britain, said Enahoro, should in political development as well as in size. Its future had vital significance to all Africa.
