There was no damage to the 27,300-ton liner. A CPR spokesman said the Empress of Canada was head- ing for Liverpool from Mont- real with 900 passengers on~ board. The accident took place near the mouth of the St. Law- rence, about 300 miles from Quebec City. Blue Retained By Air Cadets "Unification of the Canadian armed forces will bring many rapid changes within the next 18 months. I feél that after that period there will be some back- tracking as mistakes will be made," said Douglas Whitley, of Trenton, chairman of the On- tario Provincial Committee for the Air Cadet League of Can- ada, here Monday. In an address at the meeting of the Rotary Club of Oshawa, Mr. Whitley said the air cadet movement intends to retain its distinctive blue uniform but that its training might be changed due to the integration of the air force with the army and navy. Mr. Whitley said members of the Oshawa (Chadburn) Air Cadet squadron had taken part with some 2,200 air cadets in a parade in Toronto last Saturday. He praised the support given the local squadron by the service club and 'asked that this sponsorship continue. Storage Building Request Reviewed The property committee of the Oshawa board of education will study a request by students of McLaughlin Collegiate to construct a storage building on school property. G. L. Roberts, superintendent of secondary schools, said stu- dents must carry track and field equipment 150 yards from the school where the equipment is kept. "They will build it themselves but they are asking for the cost of materials," said Mr. Rob- erts. The cost involved was not known. Chairman Stanley Lovell said the building would be open to theft if built in the open field of the school. (AP) -- A thief stole an eight-foot cutout of a giant, used in a church promotion campaign, and left in its place a text from Deuter- onomy reading: "Thou shalt have no other gods." The pastor replaced this with another quo- tation from the same book of the Bible; 'Neither shalt thou steal." 900 ROSSLAND RD. OPEN WED., THURS, & FRI. | TILL 9:30 P.M. | >...
