THE OSHAWA TIMES, Thursday, April 27, 1967 TA NNUAL REPORT A YEAR OF CONSOLIDATION *On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Oshawa Gen- eral Hospital, it is my privil- ege to present this Annual Re- port covering the activities of your Hospital during the year 1966. We trust that you will find the various reports, which fol- low, interesting as well as in formative. The past year has been large- ly one of consolidation, a year in which your Board of Direc- tors and the Hospital Adminis- tration have endeavored to im- prove patient care through more adequate nursing staff and new and improved equip- ment to add to the comfort and well being of the patient. The new X-Ray equipment, purchased at considerable ex- pense, is now functioning well and will contribute to more efficient diagnostic studies. Many smaller items of equip- ment, too numerous to mention, are also being put to good use in this ever expanding institu- tion. The quality of medical care, as delegated by the Board to the Officers and Committee or- ganization of our Medical Staff, is of the highest order and we express our appreciation to the Medical Staff for their active interest in promoting advance- ment in medical care. We call attention with pride to the fact that our Adminis- trator, Mr. W. A. Holland, is serving this year as President of the Ontario Hospital Asso- ciation. We feel that this is indeed an honor and we express thanks to Mr. Holland for his interest and efforts in Hospital work. We are indeed most grateful to the Women's Hospital Aux- iliary for the pledge of $100,000 toward future Hospital expan- sion. This is a milestone in a long record of outstanding serv- ice to this Hospital. It is gratifying to note that ® President's message to the Annual Meeting ® March, 1967. this Hospital -continues to re- ceive full Accreditation stand- ing as awarded by the Cana- dian Council on Hospital Accreditation. While the occupancy of the Maternity Department con- tinues to decrease slightly, all other areas of the Hospital are operating at capacity with the Emergency Department and many other sections of the Hos- pital showing a definite need for expanded facilities. The building plans d last year have been slow in their development, however, there has been steady progress and it is hoped that construction on a modern and comparatively large expansion to our Hospital will begin in 1968. The grants now available plus the support and co-operation of the citizens of Oshawa in a general cam- paign for funds will, we be- lieve, make it possible to bring a splendid new facility into operation early in 1969. The successful operation of the Oshawa General Hospital is due to the co-operation of many persons and I especially want to pay tribute to all members of the Hospital team who are 80 vital to its operation. To my associates on the Board of Di- rectors, and especially the Chairmen of Board Commit tees, I want to say thank you for your continued support, Our sincere thanks goes to the Ad ministrative and Nursing Staff, employees, and all those asse- ciated with the operation of the Hospital for their efforts im maintaining the fine record of this Hospital for good patient care. On behalf of the Board, I em tend sincere thanks te the many friends of the Hospital for their continued interest and support. Respectfully submitted, E. G. Storie, President Board of Directors,
