Cong Rockets Hit US. Base SAIGON (AP) -- Viet Cong gunners, firing from a maxi- mum range of seven miles, un- loaded 15 big rockets on the giant U.S. air base at Da Nang Wednesday and damaged three planes. A U.S. spokesman said 16 American soldiers were injured while seeking shelter from the attack. The spokesman admitted somewhat sheepishly: "There was a sort of mad dash for the bunkers up there. The casualties were all sprained backs, scraped knees and things like that. That is why we used the word injured." Other U.S. spokesmen said that the Viet Cong force fled under a hail of radar-directed return fire laid on less than two minutes after the rocket shell- ing. The Viet Cong used 140-milli- metre Soviet rockets, the big-! gest in their arsenal. The Da Nang base was hit by the big rockets for the first time last Feb. 27 when the Viet Cong fired 52 rounds into the base and an adjacent civilian village, killing 12 Americans and 32 South Vietnamese and wounding 35 Americans and 70 Vietnamese. WOMEN CRACK ALL - MALE JOBS By AL GOLDBERG AKRON, Ohio (AP) -- 'Women have cracked another previously all-male job field-- and boxing may never be the same. No, there aren't any women boxers yet. But when it's fight time at the Akron Armory Wednesday night, 22-year-old Rhonda Kay will be the first one in the ring. She'll be the ring announcer and hopes it's just the begin- ning of a long association with the sport. "Many women think boxing is brutal," the Grecian-born Miss Kay says, 'and that boxers aren't human. Sure, it's a rough sport but nothing could be further from the truth." She said she became a box- ing fan about a year ago when she started following the career of Akron middleweight Doyle Baird. TEEN GOSSIPER A "teen gossip columnist" for an Akron radio station (WAKR), Miss Kay says the announcing was her own idea --'on the spur of the mo- ment"'--when promoter Don Elbaum brought a boxer to the station for an interview. "IT told Don that if he wanted to get a big crowd at his fights, why not have a 'woman do the announcing." "T meant it as a joke,"' she admits. But El baum, who didn't know her, went for the idea, asked if she would be willing to be the first--'and here we are." Rhonda will be dressed "'at the height of fashion." She describes her outfit as a multi-colored "full - length dress that isn't a dress." It looks like a dress, she ex- plains and is one piece but really is slacks on the bottom. American Biologist Studies Turtles ADEN (Reuters)--An Ameri- ean biologist is making a spe- cial study of the life history, breeding habits and migration of green turtles, an important export item of the South Arab- jan Federation. Prof. Harold Hirth of the Uni- versity of Utah was sent by the UN_ Food and Agricultural Or- ganization to help the South Arabian federal government in- crease its exports of green, tur- tles. Fifty - two thousand pounds of frozen green turtles were re- cently exported to European markets, where they are 'e- garded as a delicacy, either as meat or in soup. Turtle oil also is used in the cosmetics trade, . 9-PCE. LIVING ROOM -- Elegant and comfortable as it beautiful is this provincial grouping.
