Or any other place that rocks ean be found. Carefully and methodically he examines each find as if the crown jewels were being added to his collection. Unlike the pebble-puppy, he throws away those specimens that he has already collected. The pebble-puppy -- gathers everything im sight until he has his garage full and has to start sorting them out. "When you first begin to cel- lect rocks, every one is imper- tant to you and it takes 2 while| to learm which ones are searce,"" says Jack Kauffman, of 593 Wilson Ad. N., president of the Oshawa Rock and Minera] elub. STARTED IN 1959 "1 started a collection in 1959 and since then have collected minerals from all over the world," he said. "When a collecter has what he wants, he can start all over again by upgrading his speci- mens," said Mr. Kauffman. "The cave was formed by a river that had dried up and the First Major Recital At CNE For Bowmanville Pianist A young Bowmanville pianist will give his first major recital at the Canadian National Ex- hibition next Wednesday. The pianist is 27-year-old Henry H. Vanderkeoi, ef RR 4, Bowmanvaile. His recital is sponsored by the Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Association and will be given in the west music auditorium at the CNE. In his first major recital, Mr. Vanderkosi played Bach's Prelude and Fugue in D major, Beethoven's Senata Opus 14, No. 2 (2nd and 3rd move- ments), Bridge's Resemary, Brahms' Intermezzo Opus 116, No. 6, and Chopin's Polonaise Opus 40, No. 1 in A major. The recital is timed for 12:30 p.m. and admission is free. Mr. Vanderkooi is a pupil of the studie ef Mrs. L. W. Parrott, of Oshawa.
