MYERS, PhD Parents with young children often feel sure that, if they could rear their children away from the crowded areas of big cities, they could protect these youngsters from bad influences by other children. These par- ents may overlook the old saw, "There's safety in numbers." As a rule, the wide - open spaces on the edges of suburbs often afford many secret play places for youngsters out of the sight of adults; also places with! physical hazards. During summer days such protection grows more urgent as a rule than during winter. There is need for supervised play areas for children every- where--in suburbs and suburbia as well as in slum dreas.
