Charges School Trustees Playing Russian Roulette ROSEBANK (Staff) --Pick- ering Township Councillor John Campbell, speaking as spokes- man for a delegation to the Township Area Two School Board, charged trustees . with playing Russian Roulette with the lives of children who attend- ed Dunbarton School. Mr. Campbell said that un- less a new school was built in Dunbarton by September or the old one renovated he would not send his son to attend classes. Mr., Campbell said he intro- duced a motion in council ask- ing the board to take action after an engineer reported last September the foundation of the school was crumbling and that the east and west walls could only stand 1005 pounds and 1605 haze had been created over the issue and suggested that crumb- ling walls and an unsafe sciaool were two different things. Mr. Quick said the board had been advised that there was no im- mediate danger of the school foundation failing. He said Mr. Campbell was politicking and that the board had made pro- visions for 'transportation to other schools if at any time the school became unsafe. Trustee Pat Finn said the board did not intend using the two classrooms in the original school in the fall of next year. One grandmother in the dele- gation said if parents felt the school was unsafe, the board should move the children out. She said the board had not said pounds per 'square inch pres- sure, respectively. Mr. Campbell said the report i { had 'stated that the foundation) | cnbe walls were rapidly dteeriorating and tt this would continue until the school became unsafe in two to five years. Board Chairman T. R. Van- Houten said the board was aware of its responsibility and had taken action before Febru- that the school was not going to \fall down. Councillor John Williams, a r of last year's board, said the management. commit- |tee had recommended six new lelassrooms at Dunbarton in |1966. He said it was not the township council that is holding {up the approval of new quar- \ters.
