NDP Leader Donald C. Mac- Donald started a furore when he alleged that government medical care legislation is de- signed to meet the interests of insurance companies. Dr. Dymond denied this say- ing: "I have not consulted the insurance companies." Alive! She's ive! TORONTO (CP) -- A woman who was taken to the city morgue after being pronounced dead by a coroner Saturday was alive but in grave condition in hospital today. The coroner, Dr. Ralph Johns, has been suspended from duty pending an investigation. Dr. Johns, a coroner since 1940, was called to an apartment Saturday by police and found Alberta Pipher, 57, on the bath- room floor. Police had been called by rela- tives concerned about the wom- an's health and had gone to see her, When the officers found the woman lying in her pyjamas they notified the coroner. The Liberals moved to have groups included in the medical care legislation, which currently would only apply to individuals, | but their amendment was. de-| feated by a vote of 55 to 26. | They also introduced an amendment to the bill--it was defeated--that would require the medical care insurance council to meet in various areas of the province. The amendment also would require that 'one representative from western Ontario, eastern Ontario, Northern Ontario and one from Metropolitan Toronto be included on the council." Dr. Dymond said he "believes in regional representation' but! doesn't think it should be arbi-| trarily set down. He said also that he did not want-to tie the council dopyn by legislation as to where it meets. MAKES INQUIRIES } The health minister said that "nothing formal" had been done| about nominations to the council! \th "The patient was certainly cold. There was no respiration noticeable at the time and no apparent pulse," Dr. Johns said Monday night, "I examined her twice. After é first examination I made a telephone call then I went back and checked her again." She was "'cold as death and had the typical pallor." Dr. Johns made out the death certificate but did not fill in the cause of death. He called the morgue and ordered an autopsy for Sunday to find out why the woman died. "Apparently the trip down in the truck was enough to start her breathing again," said Dr, ohms. Morgue attendant bin Cat- lender said the woman's body was being carried into the morgue from a removal wagon when driver Tim Plait heard a gasp. "She's alive! Plait shouted.
