Spevack, president of Deu- terlum of Canada Lid., says he is optimistic that the company's plant at Glace Bay, N.S., for the production of heavy water will be expanded. "We look forward at least to the doubling of the capacity of the plant, which is scheduled to go into operation this summer," said Spevack. Construction of the $35,000,000 plant followed agreement by Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd., a government agency, to pur- chase 200 tons of heavy water a funds. Expansion of the plant would bring the price down even more. Spevack said he is confident that an understanding will be reached between Deuterium and Atomic Energy of Canada to supply an additional volume of heavy water, because his com- pany holds the patents for the most economical production of heavy water available so far.
