This is a real contribution to the cultural life of the city in addition to raising funds for projects in aid of children. The next prgram of the club's Travel and Adventure Series will be presented next Monday in the Oshawa Central Collegi- ate Auditorium. at 8:15 p.m. It is a film called 'South American Adventure" and tells of an adventurous trip through little known regions of South America, It was filmed and will be permanently narrated Monday night by Romain Wil- helmsen, nationally known through his adventure television appearances as "The Legend Hunter." The trail begins in the Spanish fortress city of Cartagena -- the Pearl of the Indies on the Caribbean Sea --and leads south into Colombia. This part includes 700 miles of colorful jungles and _ villages while aboard a genuine old Missis- sippi-like paddle boat, a float- ing' palace. PAINTS The Bradfords, as exponents of Rock N'Roll, know how to please the patrons on the cock- tail lounge circuit as their re- cent record clearly shows. There appears to be no limit to their popularity with Hideaway pat- rons who regard them with 668-5862 almost the same awesome ador- ation usually reserved for that other famous Rock N' Roll im- port, the Beatles. The Bradfords will have com- pleted eight weeks in all for 1965 at the Genosha when they end their present stay, which is a record surpassed only by Georgina and Jimmy, those long-play favorites of the up- stairs Starlite Room. Georgina and Jimmy have built up a strong following in the more sedate Starlite Room with their famous Honky-Tonk piano routines, community sing- ing and solos. The Hotel Lancaster's Blue | Horse Lounge has learned by long experience that its patrons | favor the Country Western type of 'music over other types pre- sented there in recent months. That is why General Manager Ralph Knox is booking 'The Show Stoppers" for another week, starting next Monday | evening. "Chef"? Adams, as the key member of the troupe, has es- tablished himself firmly with the Blue Horse set with his sentimental renditions of Coun- try and Western favorites. Pretty Yvonne Terry § gives "Chef"? a close run for top hon- ors with her impressive vocaliz- ing which stamps of good show- manship. One reason that "The Show Stoppers' are back by special request is that their act is well balanced all around. This is due also in no small way to the performances of Lloyd Phinney and '"'Tweddie," whose comedy. routines bring plenty of ap- plause, The Cadillac Hotel's Coronet Room _ will feature "The Har- monichords" for one week start- ing Monday. This is the second appearance at the Cadillac for | the trio which hails from Scot- land which is a harmonica band | with drums. General-Manager Louis Bon- ney will bring in The Fernwood Trio, an Oshawa group featur- ing Folk and Western Music with a background of steel guitars. The Stage Door Lounge at the Whitby Hotel will have an act from New York City, starting on- Monday. It is the team of Pitts and Carney who will feature a variety of musical numbers, with plenty of comedy to put the | David | Solomon, Stage Door patrons in a happy mood. General « manager Martin Chasen O F THE Spruce Villa Hotel in Whitby will feature the Skeer-Bonn Trio (late of the Gold Nugget Inn, Las Vegas, Nevada. The Gold Rush Lounge at the Central Hotel will present '""The Liverpool Set,' 'starting Mon- day. They are Capitol recording stars and appeared as part of the grandstand show at the Canadian National Exhibition this year. The Oshawa Canadian Con- cert Association will open its 1966 subscription series early in the new year with Howell Glynn, the Canadian Opera Co. singer who recently appeared = at Covent Garden, London. The date of his appearance will be announced soon and all performances for the 1966 sub- scription list will be presented in the McLaughlin Collegiate and Vocational School audi- torium. The second attraction will be the New Piano -Quartette, com- posed of Sheila Henig, pianist; Safer, viola; Stanley violin; and Donald Whitton, cello. One of the most ambitious undertakings for the year will be the presentation of the Can- adian Opera Co. in "Carman" Monday, March 28. This series will conclude with 'the second annual presentation of the popular "Stars of Osh- awa" on April 25. This presen- taion brings together some of the bright young musical talents . in Oshawa's school system and was well received last year. The CCA--has--dene .much..in recent years to bring culture to Oshawa, often without the sup- | port it so richly deserved. The trend appears to have changed for the better and President Wallace Young is looking for- ward to a most successful sea- son, General-Manager William C. Kurelo of the Oshawa Civic Auditorium is keeping the en- tertainment menu at the west- end show place well balanced these days. As an example, he will have a show with strong appeal for the Rock N'Roll set at the Auditorium on Dec. 29 --it is "Shindig Holiday,' featuring 24 Canadian musicians. | MAKE | HOME REPAIRS |. wow . 4 REMODELLING * REC ROOMS * ALTERATIONS * KITCHEN CABINETS * Custom Built CABINETS * ROOFING and FLOORING * GENERAL REPAIRS REG.
