Spotlighting.. . THE GENERALS By of Oshawa Generals y WREN A. BLAIR You just can't fit them any tighter than the Junior "A" race is at the moment. Peter- boro "Petes" dropped Toronto Mariboros last night in the Liftlock City and created a three-way tie for top spot in the league standings. Niagara Falls Flyers, the "Petes" and our own "Gen- erals" are deadlocked at 26 points each and it will be in- teresting to see where each club sits when the smoke clears' after this. weekend's action. Much of the firing begins tonight, when two of the three Sanford Doubtful Danny Sanford is a doubtful starter in tonight's contest, while Billy White and Jimmy Whittaker will definitely not see action. White may dress, only to possibly serve a pen- alty or something of that na- ture, but he will not play. Flyers report that Gilles Marotte will dress tonight against the Generals. (What else is new?) Marotte has been out, injured, for some time but has recently been working out in Boston and is reported to start tonight. Generals can just never seem to catch one of these 'teams shorthanded. Last week "Marlies" were almost back to full strength, and-now Marotte returns tonight. WREN BLAIR General Manager league leaders crash head-on, in Niagara Falls. On the other hand, if the Generals can either tie or win tonight in Niagara Falls, they can move in front of the pack by beating the 'Nats'? here tomorrow night. Starter Tonight. . GM) also reports that Wayne Carlton, out for some time now, will return to action here on New Year's night against the Generals. Oh well, if we beat them let's do it with their full club! Meanwhile Coach Jack Mc- Intyre and Manager Art Law- son bring the London "Nats" here tomorrow night for a 7.15 fixture with the Generals and coach "'Bep" Guidolin has al- ready warned his squad that this weekend could very eas- ily be the turning point, in the race for top spot.
