THE-OSHAWA~TIMES,;-Suturdsy; December 4, 1968 LAST SATURDAY after- noon, in Toronto, Oshawa Vikings played Kitchener Pirates to a 0-0 standoff, in the sudden death final match, for the Ontario In- termediate Rugger Cham- pionship. Played im in- Clement weather, with a Taging wind, and on a waterlogged field, at the end of full time; the team captains held a conference and mutually agreed to forego any "overtime" play. They decided, on the strength of what had taken place, neither team might score before darkness set in, so they agreed to share the "Ontario Championship" with each team to hold the trophy, as co-champions, for six months. Early this week, the Ontario Rugger Union officials met and ruled that this arrangement was con- trary to their rules. They pointed out that overtime Should have been played. Now they have ordered a re-play, but have ordered the championship game to be delayed until a playing field is in suitable condi- tion, likely in April.
