32 THE OSHAWA TIMES, Thursday, November 18, 1965 - Sinatra's Documentary "Pussycat Of A Show" time, but that bothers me a lit tle." NEW YORK (AP)~From the preliminary skirmishes, one might have concluded that CBS, in its documentary program on Frank Sinatra, had a tiger in its schedule. When seen Tues- day night, however, it emerged as a nice little pussycat of a show The subject, Sinatra, came off as talented, hard-working, generous, warm, family-loving, rich, responsible, witty and loyal. In an interview with Walter Cronkite--the interview Sinatra sought to have withdrawn--he explained that his reputation for a quick temper and ready fists related only to one incident in which he was provoked to ac- tion. He complained, without apparent bitterness, about "'ri- diculous accusations and state- ments that I was consorting with mobsters and gangsters." The Sinatra romances were glossed over. His first wife, Nancy, appeared in his com- pany in somé recent film. Mia Drug Overdose Farrow's name was mentioned once--by Sinatra to illustrate his problems with "the press." The name was mentioned in connection with a magazine pic- ture showing them together, with Sinatra making a gesture, which, he said, was misinter- preted by a caption writer. At one point Cronkite said "he has often done things only an understanding friend would forgive," but no understanding friend appeared to supply chap- ter and verse. At another point Cronkite as- serted that Sinatra "'was getting too big for his britches." That was' in the late 1940s at the be- ginning of the big slump in Sin- atra's career. The strongest criticism. of the singer came from his daughter, Nancy: "When you have a be a daddy all the time. And sometimes, when he's with his friends, they carry on like a bunch of kids. And it's great they're having a marvellous How Blamed In Dorothy Dandridge's Death LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The death of actress Dorothy Dan- dridge last Sept. 8 was caused by an overdose of a drug used to treat hiatric depressive cases, the county coroner's of- fice has reported Coroner Theodore J. Curphey said Wednesday the compound, tofranil, is a new drug. He said his office would not attempt to determine if the 41-year-old ac- tress' death was accidental or "8 a suicide. Curphey's office reported last Sept. 10 that Miss Dandridge died of an embolism caused by bone marrow from a broken toe entering her bloodstream. Cur- phey said the first report -was GREENWOO |released early because of "lack| lof a complete study and pres sure from news media." He said the rarity of the re |ported death - cause prompted lfurther investigation. He said the. final report isolating cause of death was made by the U.S. Armed Forces Insti |tute of Pathology. | He said his own land a private laboratory had jbeen. "unable to recover any drug in significant amounts." Miss Dandridge's body was found in her apartment by her manager, Earl Mills. Her films jincluded Carmen Jones, and Porgy and Bess. laboratory D ENTRIES FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 19 FIRST RACE -- Purse $2,100.
