/ALMOND BAVARIAN LOAF is the ideal refresh- ment for informal gath- erings and family dinners. It is easily made with dry in- stant non-dairy coffee and tea creamer. Party Desserts For Entertaining That Are Quick, Easy To Prepare Now that the children have settled down in school or college and club meetings have re- sumed for many of you, the pressures of entertaining will begin. j To help you with refreshment ideas, home economists suggest fhat you serve Almond Bavarian Loaf at one of your functions. The easy-to-prepare dessert fea- tures alternating layers of crisp chocolate wafers and an almond cream mixture. Instead of buying ingredients that have to be consumed quick- ly, you can stock your cupboard with dry instant non-dairy cof- fee and tea creamer and use it whenever you need it. This use- ful product gives a hostess in- surance against waste in the event her company cancels, as well as assurance when an im- promptu party begins at her home. Originally developed for use in hot coffee and tea, the dry instant non-dairy creamer also is perfect in hot chocolate and other beverages. Too, this versa- tile product can be whipped when you need a topping for desserts and served as a liquid on cereals and fruits. To lique- fy, mix two parts of hot water with one part non-dairy cream- er. Store liquid in refrigerator. If. you gained five pounds over the summer, or alas, 10 pounds, take them off without further procrastination. Why the imper- ative need for action? Those five pounds can so easily get you 10 by spring. It is well to regard a 10-pound upswing as the point of no return to ideal weight--unless you challenge yourself to act. Forget the word diet and tny something different. Systemati- cally cut 100 to 200 calories a day off your regular meal pat- tern. Subtract the calories where they will be least missed. With this small calorie subtrac- tion you will stop gaining and start losing, slowly. In a single month you will lose 144 pounds. Take Off Summer Pounds Now, Intermittent Dieting Won't Pay By spring you will be 10 pounds lighter. It's..the most practical plan for reducing, really, for you cannot feel deprived. Leave off a half pat of butter, cut out the breakfast jelly. Eschew second helpings. Or skip the dessert. You'll have it made. Intermittent dieting is not the way to control weight. A crash diet is particularly harmful. In fact, crash diets may result in establishing metabolic patterns of increased fat production.
