} THE OSHAWA TIMES, Seturdey, July 24, 1968 PORTS MENU By Geo. H. Campbell SPORTS EDITOR verything From Soup To Nuts' GREEN GAELS face the acid test this weekend. First of all, we must point out that we are writing this in ad- vance of the report from St. Catharines, concerning last night's game, where the St. Kitts were hosting Mimico "Mounties". If the homesters won that: one -- then the Green Gaels need only one more victory, to clinch top spot -- since even if they lost two of their next three starts, they would end up tied in total points with Mimico, but would claim first place by a much superior goal-scoring average. But if Mimico won last night, then Green Gaels need t wo more wins, with three schedule games left to play. They have a home-and-home series, that is bound to be rough, tough and likely extremely close -- with Hastings Legion. Oshawa visits Hastings tonight and 'Rock' Batley's crew comes back to our Civic Auditorium on Monday night. Oshawa's final game of the schedule is in Etobicoke, on Wédnesday night. Regardless of last night's result, or to- night's, for that matter, Oshawa Green Gaels will be going all-out to clinch that top spot in the standing, when they play Hastings here on Monday night. Finishing in first place gives that team the "extra" game at home, in each playoff round -- and it's recognized, Green Gaels just don't lose at home. Of special interest to the lacrosse fans is the information that those who hold season tickets, can pick up their reserved seats at the Civic Auditorium on Monday night, or on Tuesday and Wednesday, between 10.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. and on Thursday and Friday, between 7.00 p.m. and 9.00 p.m. It is expected that the first playoff game will be on Monday, August 2 (Civic Holiday). NOW HEAR THIS! Oshawa Yacht Club is making @ special effort to boost their 'Junior Yacht Club" member- ship and instruction classes, during the month of August. They have four boats available and excellent instructors to teach sailing, at a nominal fee, of course. On Wednesday, next week, in a bid to stimulate interest, the OYC is hold- ing an "open house" at their club quarters, Oshawa Har- bor, from 10.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. and all youngsters who are interested, will be welcomed for a free "sail", with no strings, or lanyards, attached! WEEKEND REVIEW -- Did you know that the Canadian Industries Limited Wildlife Management Fellowship Plan offers post-graduate training in wildlife studies to Canadian citizens attending our universities?
