For members only, a special registration draw will take place and the winner will receive a beautiful Electrohome stereo console, DESIGNED FOR SERVICE The Auto Workers Credit Union building was designed specifically for service. Archi- tect Frank Stalmach was in- structed, from the initial plan- ning stages, to erect the building for accessibility, convenience, with taste and appeal afore- thought. From the time a member ar- rives at the Credit Union site, and leaves his car in the 72 space parking lot, until he leaves, he is surrounded by at- tractive and appealing decor, with modern furnishings, espe- cially selected for comfort. In the main foyer, at the side entrance, he is greeted by glass partitioned walls, an elevator entrance, and flights of stairs which are terrazo with natural- ly stained wooden railings. The main floor consists of a cash department with a capacity for nine cashiers. Each cashier has a self contained area where she may complete other duties, such as typing, simple account- ing, or filing, while never leav- ing her area. This allows prompt service. A member may cash his pay cheque, deposit to his savings, personal chequing account, term deposit, or repay a loan. He may wish a withdrawal, or perhaps he wants to open a trust account for a child, or grandchild. _The Board Room, staff room and kitchen, posting depart- ment, the receptionist - switch- board operator's station and the treasurer-manager's office make up the remainder of the main floor. Its terrazo floors, shielded fluorescent lighting, white tile ceiling and lightly painted walls offer bright 'outdoors' 'priliance with warmth and ap- peal ever apparent. A feature of the main floor is the stone wall at the north end of the floor which contains a spacious vault. The vault operates on a time lock-cembination principle and would challenge the efforts of the cleverest burglars. LOAN DEPARTMENT A member arriving at the loan department on the second floor . finds the same atmosphere. The receptionist who greets the member will either seat him in one of six private concealed in- terview rooms, partitioned in lime green steel paneling and smoked glass or in the comfort- able lounge area. The Loan Manager's office contains a con- ference area for committee and staff meetings. The Collection Manager's office, the building superintendent's apartment and washrooms, make up the re- mainder of the top floor. In the basement is an audi- torium with a catering and seat- ing capacity for 200 people. A modern kitchen is immediately adjacent to the area. The. equipment room, which contains a mimeograph ma- chine, microfilm, and a storage area, the air conditioning, fur- nace room, hydro equipment and a record storage area com- plete the make up of this fine Credit Union office. The building is tastefully dec- orated throughout in warm pas- tel shades of cream, beige, gold, brown and green. The Credit Union must be one GEORGE M.
