Largely attended services were held Sunday in St. John's Anglican Church and the United Church, Flowers in both churches were in memory of Ross Gray, of Toronto, whose funeral was held Saturday. "mrs. P. Romeril and Mrs. Harold Kyte attended the Bay of Quinte Conference Presby- terial at Lindsay. The Esther Unit of the UCW made bandages at its March meeting. They will be sent to Miss Muriel Stevens, a mission- ary in the Congo. Plans were made to cater for the curlers' banquet on April 3. Mrs. Rich- ard Van Camp and Mrs. Glenn Larmer conducted the worship period. The United Church women en- i the choir, Sunday School staff, leaders of the mid- week groups and unit leaders at a hot roast beef dinner and so- cial evening . Prize winners at the, Women's Institute euchre were: Mrs. Carl Wright, Mrs. Alma Fowler, Percy Van Camp, Edgar Hew- son and Mrs. Hector Sortridge. Lodge Marks Anniversary BROUGHAM (TC) -- Joy Reb- ekah Lodge, No. 355, held its birthday party Mar. 27 when veteran members were honored with the presentation of their 15-year jewels. The recipients of the jewels 'were: Sisters Lee Beer, PDDP; Jean Ellicott, PNG; Nina Shep- pard, PNG, who was unable to attend; Marie Jones, who was unable to attend. Rebekah pins were presented to Bros. Donald Beer, PDDGM; Roy Carter, PDDGM; Manson Ellicott, PNG; Allan Ellicott, PNG. The pins were presented by Sister Louise Pilkey, the 15th noble grand of the lodge. NOBLE GRANDS HONORED The first noble grand and first district deputy president, Sister Lee Beer, presented jow- els to those who served the lodge as. noble grand. Those honored were: Sisters Gladys Barclay, Irene Masters, Irene Philip; Marjorie Greig, Flor- ence Ellicott, Gertrude Wilson and Phyllis Ellicott. Noble Grand Sister Louise Pilkey pinned jewels on the fol- lowing. members: Amy _Bur- rows, Maud Ellicott, Jean Hicks, Dora Norton, Elsie Phillips and Marjorie Tweedie. Sisters Jes- sie Burrows, Elizabeth Clark, Mildred Gilman, Ruth Hay and Ruth McArthur were unable to attend. Guests attended from May- belle Lodge, Port Perry; Alber- ta Lodge, Markham; Welcome Lodge, Stouffville; Kinoven Lodge, Brooklin; and Laura Lodge, Stirling TRAY PRESENTED ,._The officers and members of Maybelle Lodge presented Joy Lodge with an aluminum tray. Bro, Roy Carter, past district deputy grand master when Joy Lodge received its charter, gave an interesting talk on Rebekahs and Odd Fellows in Canada and the United States. The 15 candles on the birthday cake were lighted by the Noble Grands. A salad supper was served by the host: lodge. The Evening Group of the United Church women will meet April 14 at the home of Mrs. Donald Beer. Roll call will be an Easter verse. Canvassers for the Cancer 8o- ciety will be calling at homes in the area during the next month. Annual reports will be pre- sented at the April 13 meeting of the Brougham Women's In- stitute.
