The death occurred at Oshawa General Hospital yesterday of John Henry (Jack) Jeffery MM, of 740 Stone street west. He was in his 7ist year and had been in failing health for the last two years. A carpenter by trade, Mr. Jeffery was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs, Arthur Jeffery. He was born in London, England in August, 1894. He had lived in Oshawa for a total of 11 years. For four years he was a steward at the Cana- dian Corps. At one time he was very active with the city branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. During the First World War he fought with the 'Middlesex Regiment (The Die Hards). He was awarded the Military Medal for bravery in the field. He leaves his wife, the former Miss Mary Martha Marrant; one daughter, Mrs. Robert Grif- fin (Masie), of London, Eng- land; four sons, Arthur, John, Raymond; all of Oshawa, and William of London, England. There are four sisters, Miss Anne Jeffery, London, England; Mrs. George Reeve (Lilian), Windsor, Ontario; Mrs. Alfred Reeve (Violet), of London, Eng- land; and Mrs. Charles War- ren, also of London, England.
