THE OSHAWA TIMES, Thdredey, Merch 25,1965 7] NHL To Help National Team HAMILTON, Ont. (CP)-- Clarence Campbell, president of the National Hockey League, said- Wednesday night that the co-operation of the league will] likely be forthcoming in the creation of a future Canadian national team. Mr, Campbell told a meeting of the Canadian Club that a western hockey official has suggested the formation of aj team from top graduating ju- nior players in the country. The move would require the co-operation of the NHL, which owns rights to the players, said Mr. Campbell. But there would be no problem. He said the league would have to have full jurisdiction over the team, including the appointment of coaches and managers. "The team would have to run like a professional team and play against professional cal- ibre- competition," he said. Mr. Campbell said Canada was handicapped under the archaic rules governing qual- ification for Olympic hockey. "These rules were designed to. protect the newly - develop- ing countries. They don't re- quire protection any more," he said. Double Loot Vi 5 | @ * * *Some Mills Shoppers Say the nicest things about their Mills Man .. . and the fine quality products they répresent!
