Ontario and Que- bec will go into effect within the next six weeks. The company said that be- cause the number of telephones in the local calling areas had increased beyond the limits of present rate groups the prices had to be raised to bring the rates in line with those charged in other centres with a similar number of telephones. The increases, apply to local service only. The Ontario exchanges af- fected are Caledon, Galt, Hes- peler, Palmer Rapids, Dunbar- ton, Maple and St. Jacobs. The company said increases for residence service range from 10 cents a month for two-party service to 30 cents for individual service.
