THE OSHAWA TIMES, Tuesday, December 8, 1964 Pupils For Vo By DAPHNE HART Well Donevanites, the winter term has started. This means the Winter Whirl, Christmas holidays and basketball. These three things are guaranteed to take your mind off those exam results that are 'infiltrating ig- norant bliss. On the basketball scene, both boys' and girls' teams are prac- tising now, though the team members haven't been chosen yet. The Senior girls have. been bragging about what could be termed a long, tall, red-headed formula for winning. It looks like Donevan is heading for more sports victories. WINTER WHIRL The Dance Committee and Council Executive have the Win- ter Whirl on the way. They hope that they will be able to count on lots of help from the student body to carry out its plans. All students who are interesting in helping with decorations are urged to come out to the work nights which will be announced. This year the Winter Whirl will feature, as well as a fabu- lous band, a new innovation, a coffee house. The price of ad- mission will be $1.75 per couple and the dance will be on Dec. 21. Don't miss it! AWARDS DANCE Donevan held two dances re- cently. The proceeds of this dance will go towards the replacement of teeth Dave Keenan lost in the first football game this year. Chris Pinto, president and Linda Eccles, treasurer, recent- ly presented $401.05 to the Osh- awa Community Chest on behalf of the students of Donevan. This year our drive for funds was marked by many original Preparing | lleyball Games 27. This exhibition in itself was crowded and contained, only small pieces but other exhibits in (and out) of the Museum were found worthwhile by the students. On Dec: 9, the Donevan or- chestra will play at John A. Macdonald Collegiate in Scar- borough. Once again the sizes of our classes will shrink slight- ly but only for the cause of spreading our glory and "'there's nothing wrong with that". Christmas Cards. The Ways and Means committee is pleased to announce that they have all been sold. This is understand- able, knowing the sales methods used: The new approach used this year was highly commend- able.
