GORDON GARRISON Vincent Massey H-S St. Gregory's CWL Plays Active Role In The St. Gregory the Great Council of the Catholic Women's League of Canada, whose amotto is "For God and Canada", was organized as a unit of the Toronto Archdiocesan Council in 1921 and has a membership of 247. ; Its present 'officers. are: di- rector, The Right Reverend Paul M. Dwyer; past president, Mrs. Ray Scott; president, Mrs. W. H. As a unit of the national body, St. Gregory's Council partici- pates in all fields of Catholic Action: Education, Child Wel- Church Life fare, Immigration and Civic Action at ail levels. Higmights of the past year included A Day of Recollection for all the ladies of the parish, a Communion breakfast for the Guides and Brownies, and the awarding of the Religion and Life Emblem to twenty of the Guides at the annual Benedic- tion Rally at St. Michael's Cath- edral, Toronto; a donaiion of $350 to the Women's Auxiliary of the.€atholic Church Exten- sion jety of Canada and the distribution of a lange quantity of clothing, food, etc., to the needy. A marathon bridge and the Candlelight Ball were major projects; programs provided for each meeting included outstand- ing speakers, travelogues and other items. Two scholarships of $50. each were awarded the boy and girl from St. Gregory's Policemen's Wives Find Time To Help The Oshawa Police Asso- ciation Ladies' Auxiliary are a group of women with a common interest, their husbands are all policemen. Their main projects are to help at Hillsdale Manor Tuck Shop; to raise funds to help the Crippled Children's school with highest standing in Grade 12, and a_ substantial cheque was presented to the. director, Monsignor Dwyer, for parish projects.
