Would Replace - Red Ensign A telephone poll conducted by the Ontario Riding Liberal Asso- ciation indicates that 53 per cent of a cross-section of about 3,500 people in the Oshawa area favor the replacing of the Red Ensign. They also favor, the poll claimed, a Federal Government medical insurance plan, in- creased immigration, and more federal aid to education. The weekend polling was be-| gun Sept. 25 and finished Oct.| 31, and was sponsored by the) local Federal Association. It showed that 53 per cent of the people in the area from Osh- awa to Port Perry to Bay Ridges favored a unique Cana- dian flag design. Of the re- mainder, 37 per cent favored the Ensign, and 10 per cent were undecided. In Oshawa, 1,171 were in favor of a new flag, with 850 opposed) ®ut of 2,235 questioned. Areawide support for the med- feal plan was more pronounced, as 74 per cent liked the idea and only 13 per cent did not. Oshawa interviewees showed a margin of 1,618 to 298 in favor. Support for more federal aid t® education scored the highest marks in the poll, as 76 per cént favored it, and only 10 per cent opposed it. Citizens of Oshawa supported the measure 1,669 to 203. The immigration question, al- though approved overall with only 49 per cent in favor and 34 per cent opposed, was strong- ly supported in Oshawa. City residents showed a total of 1,207 for increased immigra- tion, with 718 against and 335 lundecided. This question also drew the most qualifications, Poll Chair- man W. A. D. Selby said in a newsletter. i\Te Pee our ston Healy New Adventures of Secret Agent 0077~ SEAN CONNERY on DAVID WIVEN - PETER SELLERS ROBERT WAGNER - CAPUCINE "THE PINK PANTHERS proven EVERY FRIDAY -- Oshawa P MOONLIGHT LING 12 MIDNIGHT to 2 laza Bowl OSHAWA SHOPPING CENTRE KING & STEVENSON RD.--723-2631 @ $3.00 PER LANE @ Bow!
