This was very 'much appreciated as it satis- fied many minds. KING LEAR Here was portrayed an old king who will not allow the check to his plans, ir- ritates his family obligations, fails to live in harmony with his fellow man and abuses his royal powers. Eventually, madness over- comes him and he dies, broken hie with re 4 daughter, Cordelia, in his arms. THE BOTTOMLESS PIT Following the performance of Richand II, we made off to the Victorian Inn, where a scrump- tious buffet was waiting. Sev- eral of our connoisseurs stood in line many times in order to effectively test the victuals. Having made great strides toward filling the bottomless pit, mumerous gourments then trekked across town to Strat- ford's coffee house, '"'The Black Sean." to be a taxi. I onder f th esaw expecting us? At any rate, we arrived in time and settled in our seats to enjoy one of Shake- speare's greatest tragedies, "King Lear." During each intermission, crowds congreageted on the bal- ony and in the lobby, sipping on soft drinks, 'coffee and mun- ching ice-cream bars. After the last curtain caill, the McLaughlinites pured out the exits and once again boarded buses. Three o'clock, Sunday morm- and daddies relieved ss oo pulled into the parking ot. Both of these teams competed in a field of eighteen for their titles. Mr. Smialek is a graduate of the University of Toronto where he played on the line for the St. Mike's football team. Mr. Hughes, a recent grad from Western University, has lhopes for this year's teams. He has coached several top teams in the city leagues of his home town, Scarboro. The McLaughlin. teams are going to be top contenders this year. However, the proficiency of the players doesn't account for 100 per cent of the victory. A solid mass of MCVI fans, a few rows thick helps quite a bit. How about it? It'd be great to see the guys win COSSA this year wouldn't it?
