MEAL OF RECORD CATCH TORONTO (CP) -- Svend "Oleson, a 30-year-old Toronto fronworker, is awaiting @ ruling by a committee of the "Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters on his claim to the Canadian smallmouth 'pass record. "- He caught an 11 - pound, eight-ounce fish in Elevator 'Bay, Lake Ontario, near «Kingston during July's hot spell, had it photographed atid weighed--and then ate it. "] would have had it stuffed. But we couldn't get it into the freezer and I wouldn't waste a game fish," Oleson said, Wednesday. The existing Canadian .,gmallmouth record is nine pounds, 13% taken bling spoons, when this big fish struck and jumped right out of the water. "We could see at once that it was at least a near-record fish and when after a fight of 50 minutes I got it to the boat I had to gaff it to get it in: "The bass lost a lot of blood at this time-or it would have weighed more than the world record." Mr.Oleson said that at 20 he caught a national record' trout of 11 pounds in his na- tive Denmark. He ate that one too.
