Printers Seek Opinions Of City Council TORONTO (CP) -- Mayor Philip Givens said Tuesday that striking Toronto printers have' asked him and other city coun- cil members to take sides in the printers' dispute with the city's three daily newspapers. The 'printers have been on Strike since July 9. Mayor Givens told a Metro- politan Toronto executive com- mittee meeting that he received a letter Aug. 14 from Balfour Mackenzie, acting president of Local 91 of the International Typographical Union (CLC), asking that he made known his views on the dispute. Mines File $450-Million Damage Claim TORONTO (CP)--Leitch Gold Mines Ltd, and' Mastodon-High- land Bell Mines Ltd. filed a statement of claim for damages in the Supreme Court of On- tario Tuesday against Texas Gulf Sulphur Co. of New York. The claim asked that. Texas Gulf's holdings near Timmins be delivered to them, or that damages of $450,000,000 be paid.
