Banks, deposed president of the Seafarers' International Union (Ind.) Thursday lost another court battle. The Quebec Court of Appeal ruled that an injunction taken out two years ago against the SIU was justified. The injunction was obtained by Upper Lakes Shipping Lim- ited which said that unloading of a ship at Trois-Rivieres was being interrupted by violence. Banks and other SIU officers had termed the situation "peaceful picketing." Meanwhile, there was Ao word of the "whereabouts of Banks, missing since a bailiff tried to serve an arrest warrant on him at his suburban Pointe Claire home three weeks ago. The warrant stemmed from the same picketing incident on which the Appeals Court ruled today.. Banks was found guilty last September of confempt of court after SIU members con- tinued picketing, in spite of the injunction.
