TAYLOR Norman H. Taylor, 67 Church street, Bowmanville, died in Bowmanville Memorial Hospi- tal, Tuesday, July 28. He was in his 84th year. Born in Cadmus, Ont., Mr. Taylor was brought up and edu- cated in Bowmanville. He mar- ried the former Miss Annie May McCoy, Nov. 18,1914, in Port Arthur. It would have been their Golden Wedding Anniversary this year. In 1918 he took over Bowman- ville Arena, known as Taylor's Arena, from his father and ran the business until it was burned to the ground in 1936. He then bought the arena in Whitby and ran it until 1944, when his son Ernie took over. Mr. Taylor then retired. He also worked as a marine engineer with the Canadian Dredging Company during the summer months. Mr. Taylor was a member of Trinity United Church, Bowmanville. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Ron Alder (Eve- lyn) Bowmanville; two sons, Harry, Napanee and Ernie, Osh- awa. Ceceri (Kathicen) of Hamilton, Mrs, EHa Neal and Mrs. Ernest Martel (Frances), both of Toronto, Mrs. E, Bruyea (Mary) of Wooler, Mrs. Gordon Mahoney (Rose) of Seymour and Mrs. Joseph Toth (Lillian) of Oshawa. LIZZIE ROGERS The death of Mrs, Lizzie Rogers occurred Monday, July 27, in Bowmanville Memorial Hospital following a 10-months illness. Her residence was Divi- sion street, Hampton and she was in her 64th year. Born in Thornton, Bradford, England, she moved to Canada with her parents in 1914 and settled in Toronto. She married John E, Rogers in Toronto in 1921. Sixteen years ago they moved to Hampton where Mrs. Rogers was 'a member of the WMS and the WI. She was also a member of Hampton United Church and at one time sang in the choir She is survived by her hus- band; two sons, Thomas and John, both of Hampton and a daughter, Mrs. R. J. Campbell (Barbara), of Scarborough.
