FIVE TWENTY-FIVE year members of the Ladies Aux- iliary of the Oshawa Legion wore their 25-year pins for the first time having been pre- sented them by Zone Com- mander Mrs. Robert Williams and Mrs. Norman McEvers, Five Legion Auxiliary Members Presented With A happy annual event, the pre-| sentation of 25-year. membership pins, was celebrated by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 48 Auxiliary with a banquet on Tuesday night, The honored recipients were Mrs. Walter Beach, Mrs. George Hester, Mrs. Alice Blackburn, Mrs. A. V. Parfitt and Mrs, Frank Grant. Mrs. Robert Wil- liams, zone commander, and Mrs. Norman McEvers, presi- dent, made the presentations following the banquet and meet- ing. Mrs. Alyn Elliott, first vice- president introduced those at the head table including the zone commander and president and Branch President Maurice Proctor; business manager, Al- fred Brisebois; the Reverend Alfred Woolcock, padre; and executives, Mr. William~Lang- ton, Mrs. Alfred Lavender, Mr Alex Walker, Mrs. Charles Gibbs, Mrs. James Anderson, Mr, Cameron Oke, Mrs, Leslie Brown, Mr. Arthur Cocker, Mrs. Raymond Boivin and Mr, Gor- don Jacobs. Also introduced were Mrs, Fred Joiner of Rugby, England, British Legion Branch No. 1, who is visiting her brother Mr. William Jeffery and Mrs. Jef- fery, Bloor street west, and Mrs. Jo Aldwinckle, women's editor, The Oshawa Times. Mrs, James Anderson pro- Posed the toast to the provin- cial command and in her reply Mrs. Robert Williams asked the auxiliary to give support to the smaller and less affluent aux- 25th Year Pins Mrs. Alfred Lavender pro posed the toast to the branch and the president replied con- gratulating the 25-year members and all those with 25-plus years of membership. Membership, he said, was the life blood of the Legion. Following the toast to the 25- year members by Mrs. Leslie Brown, Mrs. C. A. Vermoen thanked the branch and the aux- iliary and reminded the mem- bers that even after 25 years they were still wanted at meet- ings. All the head table guests brought messages of congratula- tions and good wishes, Mr. Alfred Brisebois said that the branch was well aware of the work and assistance of the aux- iliary, He thanked them for help in the past and expressed hope for the future, A delightful musical interlude was provided by the Bowman- ville Glee Club made up of members of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 178 and directed by Mr. Murdoch Beaton.
