Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a full skirted gown of white peau de soie, styled with lily-point sleeves, a scoop neckline and a graceful train. This is his large "Seated Woman," paint- in the winter of 1926-27. (Number 93 in the recent "Picasso and Man" exhibition.) Clark before it went to the Museum of Mod- ern Art, has been bought with money which had already been given to The Art Gallery of Toronto from private sources for the acquisition of works of art, with an impressive dona- tion toward its purchase from the Women's Committee and by the generous and often anony1ious contributions from men and women who knew the paintin, was being considered and volunteered the money to make its acquisition possible. UNITS, GROUPS AUXILIARIES Lee Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Ebejer, Wed in Holy Cross Christ Memorial Church WA, | Martha Group, on Thursday, April 9, in the Parish Hall at 8.00 p.m. There will be prizes and refreshments. Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church was the setting recently for the marriage of Carmen Margaret Josephine Ebejer and Emmanuel G. S. Calleja, both of Oshawa. The bride is the daughter of Malta, and the bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Saviour Calleja, Malta, and the late Mr. Calleja. The Reverend Matthew J. Darby performed the ceremony. The bride, who was given in marriage by her brother-in-law, Mr. Xavier ieca, wore a full-length gown of satin en- hanced elaborately with flower appliques, accenting the neck- line and the entire front of the gown. Lindsay was in charge of the devotional period. Mrs. Gordon Love read the scripture. Mrs. Lindsay spoke _ on} "Deborah" fromt he Women of the Bible, closing with a. ques- tion and answer period. Hymn 383 was sung. Mrs. Strank took charge of the business period. Roll call show- ed 14 members present. The various reports were given. Plans were finalized for a din- ner and a Girl Guide Banquet tulle illusion and she carried a cascade of white carnations. She was attended by her sis- ter, Mrs, Xavier Mercieca, of Detroit, Michigan, wearing a ballerina gown of two-tone green nylon chiffon with a shir- red bodice and contrasting cum-. SOUTHMINSTER UCW The March meeting of South- minster UCW was held at the church in the form of a pot luck supper. An Easter Worship Service was conducted by Mrs. Graham Nelson and Mrs. Gary Bayliss. Following the worship period, the president, Mrs. Royce Whit- taker, presided over the busi- ness meeting. The treasurer's report showed a bank balance of $281.22. It was decided that the Missionary and Maintenance allocation should be paid in full. Mrs. Cecil Cornelius reported that three cards and one floral arrangement had been sent dur- ing the month, Mrs. Gary Bay- wore blue dresses with blue Horace Brown, Maple Grove road north, Bowmanville, to Colin Davies, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Davies, RR 3, took place re- cently in St. George's Church (Anglican) Newcastle. The Reverend D. R. Dewd- mey performed the ceremony. The bride who was given in marriage by her father, wore a semi-formal dress of white lace with a long-sleeved jacket and a shoulder-length veil of white net, secured by a head- dress of flowers. She carried a bouquet of white carnations and hyacinths. She was attended by Miss Sharon Holmes and Miss Ther- ese Brown, her sister. They flowered headdresses and car- ried posies of pink and white carnations. The bridegroom's brother, Richard Davies of Oshawa was the best man and ushering were Terrence Leggett of Nobleton; Robert Brown and Kenneth Mc- Donald, both of Maple Grove.
