POST-CONVICTION FUROR Kicked Man In Head Pair Get Two Years . A short-lived, but high-pitched furor rocked Magistrate's Court here Tuesday. Miss. Shirley Cheseborough was dragged from the court- room by police, protesting two- be! sentences imposed on her rother, Blake 'Bucky' Chese- porte. and her fiance, Hugh John Hunsdale on a charge of assault causing bodily harm, Miss Cheseborough's remarks were not directed toward Mag- strate Harry Jermny, or Crown Attorney Bruce Affleck, but were aimed at Oliver Larocque, the plaintiff. She tearfully referred to him as a "fighter, and a trouble- maker", Magistrate Jermyn uickly ordered her taken from the courtroom, ' The Court learned that the two accused had "jumped on Larocque's face and kicked him In. the head" to end a brawi at Oshawa's Cadillac Hotel, Oct, 4. Mrs. Doreen Vennor, who told the Court that she had been both threatened, and offered a bribe to 'keep her mouth shut", described the beating adminis. tered by Hunsdale, 27, of 125 Church street, Oshawa, and Cheseborough, 26, of 674 Simcoe etreet south, Oshawa, ~ She said that; "two fellows held Oliver, while Hunsdale kicked him, and Cheseborough feaped in the air and came down on his (Larocque's) face'. The dispute started, the Court learned, *when the pair had pushed through a group, which included Larocque, Mrs, Vennor and her husband Murray Ven- nor and Mr. and Mrs. Mel Pey- ton, who were just leaving the eyerage room after celebrating rs, Vennor's birthday. * The Peytons and Mr. Vennor agreed to this statement, but denied that they saw the La- rocque beating. _ Larocque, who was cut for 16 titches in the affair, and whose cars were gee out by Mr, Affleck, could not identify his . assailants either. "Two fellows kicked me, and then I was inconscious," he said, "I don't know what hap- pened after that." "He was covered with blood when I arrived," said Constable Fred Dionne of Oshawa PD, "He suffered a severe facial beating," testified Dr. J. W Pickering of Oshawa, who treat: ed Larocque at the Oshawa Gen- eral Hospital, "His nose was fractured, multiply-fractured, and his face was covered with cuts and bruises, especially around the eyes." | Doctor Pickering agreed with) Mr, Affleck that the injuries were. compatible with those sus: tained from a kick in the face, Miss Cheseborough testified that: "Larocque had started the affair by striking Hunsdale in the face'. | Cheseborough called his ac-/ tions 'retaliatory'. Germany | aa how do you know you TORONTO (CP) -- John D Laun, former operator of Pigagy- jand Farms at Sunderland, Ont., is safe in West Germany from an Ontario Provincial Police warrant charging him with fraud in excess of $2,000,000 it was learned Tuesday. OPP Inspector Archie Eady, in charge of the investigation, said Canada has no extradition treaty with West Germany and Laun 'is safe while he is there. Laun is believed to be living in Stuttgart. He left Canada in! 1962 and Piggyland went bank- rupt shortly afterwards Police said more than 1,000 in- yestors were involved in. the Piggyland project. Farmers could buy pigs and the farm would raise them until they were old enough to be sold to butchers. All equipment at the bankrupt farm was sold at auction in 1982, including 1,435 sows and 2.435 pigiets at a price of $100,- 000. Inspector Eady said Laun's movements in Germany are be- ing closely observed and police would act immediately if he left the country Sunderland is 60 miles :north-! east of Toronto | It was learned that, when |finally-aroused, Forsythe com- |plained of a sore back, and was itaken to hospital, Four hours) Hlater, on his release into cus- tody, a breathalizer test was submitted. to. pints of beer (Forsythe said he was drinking beer) were drunk preceding the arrest. "T can drink up to 20 or 22) pints and still drive", Forsythe) boasted, "I only had eight or nine that day." He blamed the accident on his car's swerve after he had ap- plied the brakes on a curve. He} also complained that he received a head injury in the crash, and was not treated, Examination at the Oshawa General Hospital revealed no such injury, the Court learned. "So you think you can drink 20 or 22 pints and still drive?" Shorty's Cigar Store 121 BROCK ST. N.
