He underlined the need for good public relations, selling the pub- lic on planning. Mr. Lycett warned that while municipali- ties talk. about losing local autonomy, "we could be taken over by Metro Toronto." Set Conditions For Use Of Nuns "The school will be no dif- ferent than any other Catholic school in Oshawa and would not be an Eastern Rite school. How- ever, facilities would be pro- vided by the sisters and Father Pereyma which would enable the teaching of the Eastern Rite if it did not inconvenience pupils of the Latin Rite.' It was further stipulated in the letter that, if boundaries were placed on the school, they could not be. violated. 280 CHILDREN NEEDED Before the unanimous vote was recorded, Trustee Rudka stated that 280 children would be needed to fill the school, and of these, '"'there might be a chance of 92 of them being chil- dren of the Eastern Rite". "You will have to request or lay down a law to get a Latin Rite priest or priests to send Latin Rite children into that school. You' will make the par- ents of 92 chitdren happy and displease the parents of 190 others."" He asked: "Who will be the pastor?"'
