ANN LANDERS Dear Ann Landers: Some friends recently named their baby Shirley. In my opinion it's a dirty trick to give such a name to a girl, but to name a boy Shirley is unforgivable. Why do people do such things to their children? It seems to be happening more and more. Two other friends named their son Marion, My husband and I began to call him Butch the day he was born, Fortunately it caught on and saved him. Girls get stuck with names which belong to the 'opposite sex, as well. In school these names, which can go both ways, Shirley Will Have To Use His Fists will hook on a nickname that does, Dear Ann Landers: Recently I found an apartment which captured my heart. It was too expensive for me so I asked a friend who is a hospital nurse if she would like to be my room mate, She loved the apart- ment, too, and agreed with pleasure. Now, whenever I come home 'bedroom until 3 a.m.--which I ends of the boy friend o rtment and her; ten stays in her think is disgraceful. She has a TV set in there and claims they enjoy watching the late shows and that I am evil-minded. I realize I should tell her to shape up or ship out but if she leaves I'am stuck with a rental 1 can't afford, My name is on the lease which doesn't expire until May 1. Please advise me. --HUNG Dear Hung: This situation will get worse before it gets better, Tell your friend she must move within 90 days and start to look for a new room mate, If you can't find one, you are stuck until May, at which time you should find something you can afford--alone. people who will be faced with weeks I will be This birth- day is a great big for teen-|sonal agers. It's sort of a magic num- ber. About a dozen of my rela- tives and friends of my parents have already asked me what I want for my 16th birthday. My answer is, "Anything. I'm not fussy." Then they. keep at me to suggest something and I lon't know what to say, Usually they end up saying, "How about if I give you $5 and you can buy whatever you want?" This really frosts me. Money just slips away. and "em om bocene sae did. My per- opinion eg that you have no right to criticize well-mean- ing people because they are un- imaginative when you don't seem to have any particularly bright ideas yourself.
