Disagreement about the de- tails of a proposed termination of pregnancy act resulted in a softening of two resolutions ap. proved by the convention. But the general principles will be forwarded for approval at a Canadian Bar Association con- vention in Banff in September. The division called for: Amendment to the Criminal Code allowing legal sale of con- traceptives, and removal of hos. pital bylaws prohibiting legal sterilization. The new approach to abortion was proposed by a special com- mittee under Vancouver prose- cutor Stewart McMorran. WOULD AMEND CODE It calls for amendment of the Criminal Code to permit a "'ter- mination board" to approve abortions under three conditions --when pregnancy may endan- ger the physical or mental health of a woman;. when there are reasonable grounds to show she became pregnant as a result of rape, seduction or incest; when there is a substan- tial risk the child may be born with mental or physical disabil-. ity.
