The president, Mrs. N. V. Roe, welcomed those pres- ent, Guests at the dinner were the school staff and Mrs. Car! Creamer, Vice - Presidend of Home and School Council who was present to install the new executive officers. ; Special entertainment. for the evening was provided by a string group under the direction of Mr, Edward Oscapella, Mr. w. J. Armstrong, Principal, introduced Mr. Oscapella who teaches instrumental music in the Oshawa schools, The grov | had been chosen so as to repre- /sent all the schools in Oshawa,| jand they delighted their audi- ence with a varied program of musical selections. Miss Mimi Wiaprzyk of Conant School |played a violin solo, the |selection that won her a She was accompanied at the piano by Mr. Wallace Young Supervisar of Music for the Oshawa Public Schools. Of great interest to the par- ents was the appearance of the Vincent Massey pupils who have been studying violin under Mr. Oscapella at the school. The selections they played showed the good progress they have made during the short time they have been studying music. A clarinet solo by Don- na MacDonald was an added highlight of the musical pro- gram, Mrs. G. S. Hudson, on behalf of the association, thank- ed Mr. Oscapella and his musi- cians for the excellent enter- tainment. The school choir under the direction of Mr. Jack Hutchin- Young at the piano. In thanking the choir, Mrs. Roe praised them for their hard work which had resulted in an excellent performancé, and wished them} every success in the trials for) the Musical Festival which will) be held later this month, This Festival is an excellent eve- ning's entertainment, featuring the best in the differnt musi- cal classifications from the whol city. Mr. Young outlined the expected program at the Festival and urged the parents to attend. The business part of the eve- ning. opened with the reading of the annual reports of the secretary and treasurer. The chairman of the Nominations Committee, Mrs. Jack Dewell, gave her report which listed the new executive as follows: Presk dent, Mrs. N. V. Armstrong, staff representa- tive. As the office of recording secretary still remained vacant, the membership empowered the executive to appoint someone whole city.
