Dickson. reported that the mail service to the village had' been extended to include two deliveries a day into Orono as well as two deliveries out of the village. In connection with "Orono Signs" on the County road; north of the village, R. For-, rester stated that the Police Trustees are looking into the matter and 'he felt that they would be erected with the as-+ sistance of the counties. B. Hazelden reported that the Tourist Information booth, set-up at the Diana Motel under the sponsorship of the Orono Chamber of Commerce had re- ceived approval from the De- partment of Travel and Publi- city. The sign for the booth is to be completed and erected as soon as possible, Considerable discussion fol- lowed when a suggestion plac- ed at a previous directors' meeting for assistance from the Orono Chamber in placing new cattle ties and for some painting at the Orono Fair grounds was made, D. Found spoke in favor of giving this assistance, stating the appearance of the grounds could be improved and that the Orono Fair was the biggest event of the year held: in Orono. He also supported the pro- viding of prizes for the school children who would be attend- ing the first day of the Fair on Friday. He said the chamber had worked towards getting the school children out to the Fair on the first day and should follow it up by providing some prize money. R. Forrester said that the reply from the directors to the Fair Board was too abrupt when they intended asking the | Fair Board to improve the ap- pearance of the grounds. "After all the chamber uses the fair grounds for its annual Colt Derby and other events" and he felt they should assist in whatever way they could to help improve the grounds. R. Duvall stated that he felt the horsemen should take care of the fair grounds as they use it the year round. A motion by Forrester and Found that a committee be set up to meet with the board to see in what manner they could assist In making improvements at the grounds was passed. Approval was given to Ponty- pool to use the Orono Cham- ber of Commerce booths for its annual carnival in August. The honor students of the Orono High School are to be honored in a similar manner as in previous years this come ing October. H. Partner reported that he had received a query for an industrial building in Orono and formed a committee of R. Dickson and R. Forrester te look into the' possibility of con structing such a building.
