So it was with great interest that I looked out through my geranium-filled window at the mass of wriggling bodies in the schoolyard one Friday. afternoon. ' I shouldn't be very surprised to see school children fighting. After all, I was a teacher during the hey- day of Wonder: Woman and the Bionic 'Woman. These two televi- sion programs so influenced the female half of my classes, it was not unusual to find the poor male element being lassoo-ed and pitch- ed about by "the weaker sex". Yet, this Friday afternoon, I found myself glued to my kitchen window. Throughout the schoolyard there was not a body to be found upright. All ages, all sizes, boys and girls -- bodies could be seen littering the field in various strategic fighting positions. Such a general mass of squirming wrestling bodies that at first glance I sup- posed it to be some sort of school activity. : One blonde boy soon had my undivided attention. He alternate- held at bay or attacked other children. Some were considerably bigger than himself. Lunging at his opponents and grabbing them by the knees seemed to be his favourite tactic. Occasionally; this had its drawbacks as invariably a larger child would fall on him. Although pretty well pinned under the rump of the intended victim, this blonde boy always managed to free himself successfully. When the recess bell finally rang, I looked for telltale signs of wounds that might have been sustained in this marathon squir- mish, but could see none. Instead, throughout the schoolyard the children could be seen helping each other up and running, some holding hands, toward the school building. @ Tandem Trucks @ Loaders ® Dump and Hopper Trailers @ Snow Removal @ Equipment Rentals RUSSELL 445-2820 self-contained amp., record level meters. Who will fight our battle? Who will fight our cause? Who? The answer is long in coming The roar as it gathers momentum is great. Even louder than the tempest of' the oceans united and yet it is in its infancy.
