Page 10 Russell Pool The end of the summer has come fast for the Russell Pool. Many activities highlighted the successful operation of the pool. Lessons went well for all three sessions. The weather co-operated this summer which lead to a good turn out for lessons. One hundred and twenty five children passed Red Cross courses and six more passed their Bronze. It should also be noted that 8,656 people used the Russell Pool during the sum- mer period. The Swim Team consists of 44 very happy people. As you know, the Team had a very successful season. They placed 3rd in one meet, 2nd in 3 meets and, Ist in 2 meets. The biggest win of course was the Eastern Ontario Swimm- ing Championships. Adult lessons and Swim and Trim was going strong throughout the summer. The ladies and gentlemen enjoyed the lessons and thought it was worth the money. Special events were held throughout the summer to help. keep the staff busy. And busy they were as we hosted two home swim meets; competing in the Ottawa Regional Lifeguard Games; pass- ing a CPR course and hosting a - 'Family Night" which had events like candy dives, srumble, tug of war, strip relay and demonstra- tions including a pool situation and a first aid situation. All in all it was a super time at the Russell Pool. Hope you had as good a time as we did. Clan gathers Mr. and Mrs. Clelland Hamilton, accompanied by the former's mother Mrs. A.E. Hamilton, visited relatives in Wawota, Sask., on the weekend of Aug. 9. A church service was held in the arena commemorating Saskat- chewan's 75 years in confedera- tion. Rev. Childerhose, formerly a local boy preached the service. A splendid choir rendered an an- them. FAIR FASHION A popular addition to Russell Fair, 1980 was a fhasion show co- sponsored by the Russell Agricultural Society and D. Latremouille's store in Embrun. The clothes were beautifully shown by eleven talented female and four equally competant male models, all of amateur status and all from Russell. The outfits ranged from coats and afternoon wear through sport, aprés sport, evening and dinner wear to finish up with loungewear. The commentation of Marianne Bols of Russell and Monique Blanchard from Latremouilles added a professional air to the show. Door prizes were given out throughout the hour and during a ten minute intermission, Philip McVey entertained with guitar and music and singing.
