Jim Paul Israel's ultra-orthodox community is abuzz with speculation that the Messiah will come some time in 1980 to prevent a nuclear holocaust as nations struggle for the Middle East. Rabbi Yisrael Abu Hatzeira is so sure of this prediction that each morning on awakening he asks for his walking stick to go look for the Messiah. A set of white clothes lies waiting in Abu Hatzeira's home so that he will be ready at a moments notice to greet the Prince Of Peace. Inspite of this grand aspiration, Rabbi Hatzeira and his fellow believers should have been dressed long ago in white robes. -- the Messiah has already come! The Jewish faith has regrettably turned a blind eye to Jesus Christ in whom the prophecies of the Old Testament find their exact fulfillment. Bible scholars have found more than-24 pro- phecies which were fulfilled in the cruxifiction, death, and ressurrection of our Lord. Isaiah, a respected prophet of Israel, foretold with ac- curacy in the 53rd chapter of his book, that the Messiah would be 'despised and rejected of men... unaccepted by His own people... wounded and bruised for our iniquities...and brought as a lamb to the: slaughter." Six hundred years before the birth of Christ, Isaiah wrote His obituary. No one else but Jesus of Nazareth fits this gruesome prophecy of the Messiah who would be savagely mistreated and killed. In Isaiah 53:12, there is one final word which gives some meaning to an otherwise meaningless death; Isaiah explains that the Messiah was to "bear the sin of many". God in His great love and mercy sent His Son to bare the cost of man's sin which the bible states is death (Rom. 6:23). At this time of Easter, let us never forget that the Messiah has come and has died in our place, bearing our sin. Have your eyes been opened to the truth that there is forgiveness of sins and eternal life for all who come to Jesus, The Messiah? Castor Valley --g-- Baptist Church -<~. Minister-- Rev.
