Russell Review 119th Russell Agricultural Fair Russell Girl Guides Registration night is Sept. 15, 7:00 p.m. at the Russell Public School. Former Guides are reminded to please wear uniform tops. The fees are $4.00 annual registration fee and a weekly Patrol fee of 20c (10c when in uniform). Girl Guides is open to girls ages 10 to 14. Our Company is divided into five patrols and each patrol elects their own patrol leader annually. Guide Captain is Mrs. R. Carley and the Company Leader is Janice Saunders. Carley, 445-5711. a : : -- Photo by Joe Rowan The 1977 Russell Fair attracted a record crowd of over 5,000 paid attendants In the Domestic Science there were 175 entries with Mrs. Keith Dugdale winning the prize for the most points in baking and Mrs. Ronald Hubbard the most points by a new exhibitor. There were 82 entries in the Roots, Vegetable and Fruit Section, with Mrs. Clelland Hamilton taking the most prizes. In the sewing and craft section there were 179 entries with Mrs. Norman Dugdale winning the Simpsons Special with 17 firsts, ten seconds and 8 thirds. Mrs. Graham Wells was second highest. The judge remarked that the quality of the sewing was exceptionally good. There were 16 4-H club displays from Russell County. Winners in the Junior Depart- ment were Todd Kolestik, Mathew Ekdahl, Billie Jo Bog- den, Kathy Baillon, Rosemary Cram, Linda Paquette, Carole St. Denis, Tracie McVey, Sheryl Ludham, Barry McVey, Billy Nyenkamp, Patricia Nyenkamp, Frances Perras, Karen Bekkers, Lynn Malboeuf, Debbie Pratt, Sancha Corneau, Gillian Todd, Darlene Eadie, Brisbin, Deborah Prescott, Gisele Provost. The King Show midway added a great deal to the fair and were very pleased with the attend- ance for the four day fair.
