Severances: Record from a typical council meeting: Dugdale -- large farmer north of Russell, 1-acre lot for son, approved; Quaile large acreage south of Russell, not farmed by owner; a second lot for hired-hand, refused; ARDA -- north of Embrun, a small change to straighten out titles but this correction will probably allow the Maheu_ checker- board subdivision to be develop- ed, approved; Jones -- to sever the 50 acre Maharey bush noth- west of Russell into 2 equal pieces each with about 500' frontage on a township road, owner to build on one piece and sell the second; present con- dition of bush is "wasteland", approved; Bols -- 2 lots just beyond the village limit but immediately adjacent to the built-up area, approved; Menard -- 1 lot in village of Embrun, approved; Leclair -- 1 lot in Concession 6, approved. 2. The old one has been in service since 1952 and some- times depends on prayers to keep it going.
