Page 2 Saturday, October 2, 1976 SPORTS O.T.H.S. | News Hi again! I hope you had a good summer, as I did. It's back to another school year, with about 800 students attending this year. There are a total of 6 new staff members, including: Mr. McLean, former Principal at Bell High; Mr. Hansen, who taught at Metcalfe Public School; Mr. Patterson; Mill Mulligan and two new guidance counsellors. This year the head boy and girl are Ralph James and Wanda Sheldrick. The Athletic Association and Student Council have each had one meeting so far, and the good news is, there will be house league once a month and if the turnout is good it will continue, but if it isn't it will be discontinued. Sports has just started at O.T.H.S., in basketball Junior and Senior girls and in Senior boys soccer. Coaches are: Mrs. McCann, Junior girls basketball; Mr. Mallon, Senior girls basketball; Mr. Franklyne, with Mr. Ban- gay as assistant coach, Senior boys soccer. Only two scores to report so far. First of all the Junior Girls Basketball Team lost to Colonel By 24 -15, while the Soccer Team lost 2 - 0 to A. J. Jackson. So that is all I have to report from O.T.H.S. for this week. We are having a garage sale and we need your donations. Bring your contributions to Daele Hill or Yollande Baillon anytime after the 19th, then come and pick up a bargain at the sale. Young-adult groupies greet Beach Boys Reprinted from the Citizen The Beach Boys are the foun- tain of youth for the world's oldest teeny-boppers. They're cruising the strip by day, holding hands on a warm summer night; they're puppy love and slow dances; they're bikinis and blonde jocks; they're tight white pants and striped shirts, skate boards and muscle cars. They're nostalgia million memories. And their music -- born of the sun, sand and surf of the '60s -- is the catalyst that seems to bring those 15-year-old mem- ories alive. Grey and Gillian Rokosh were among the 10,000 young-adult groupies who packed the Civic Centre here Sunday night to relive the early '60s with the Beach Boys. The same band and the same fans 15 years ago no doubt would have turned the Civic Centre into one of those familiar frenzied orgies of screaming, fainting females.
