The official ceremony was, by general opinion, not the least bit stuffy, and really captured the significance of the event. The ensuing dances were thoroughly successful. "Fowler Street" always puts out a great sound and they were at their best in Russell. "Shack" poured it on upstairs for those who like to feel their music. All in all, the opening was all we had hoped for and more. To the Official Opening Ceremonies Committee, a hearty thanks from every one of us. (Faom the Winchester Press) Russell officially opened its new arena complex Last Saturday at an impressive ceremony that taxed the capacity of the beautiful new centre. Sportscaster Vie Hultquist introduced the dignitaries present and noteworthy was the fact the standing ovations were reserved for two "Locals". Larry Robinson was back "home" to assist Lovely Lynn Nightingale with sibbon-cutting duties, and the takk handsome N.H.L. star recedved a thunderous wefaome. But there was:a- quiet, very modest man also seated on the stage...a man Robinson praised highky for having helped so many young athketes, including himsel{, fully enjoy community sports programs. Those new steel rakters seemed to tremble When Dr. Frank Kinnaird was introduced to the vast crowd. Everyone knew that behind every successful program for young people in the entine district, Dr. Kinnaind had quietly payed a majon role. The notsy, boisterous evening marked another important milestone in the illustrious history of Russell. It was understandable, however, that a sombre silence prevailed when Mr. Hultquist paid tribute to the Late Bill Linegar.
