Twiname As the settlers settled in the area known as Louck's Bridge, their needs demanded certain facilities. A general store was established on the north-east corner of the cross- roads on the property of Mrs. R. Millaire and across from it on the riverbank was a grist mill powered by a water wheel. Immediately across from this mill was a saw mill located on the property of Mr. E. Berube. The whole area about his home would be piled with pine logs to be cut into lumber. Located at the west end of the present cemetery, a church was built, serving the spiritual needs of the people. It was later transferred to the present village of Russell where it was used by the Order of Foresters and was remodelled to serve as a fire hall. However, it later became necessary to replace the fire hall with a more modern building. "In the early days of Luxemburg, a tannery was built on the property now owned by Mr. Don McLaren. On the north side of the road a pottery was erected, because these pioneer n2ople discovered clay suitable for pottery and bricks.
