From hockey, to swim- ming, to fastball, to volley- ball, to basketball, track and field and long distance run- ning, the list can virtually cover the whole sports spec- tum. This proud tradition is also faithfully nurtured in area ele- mentary schools and encour- aged at the secondary school level at both Georgetown District High Sento and Acton dates Kristy Johnson Coaches and volunteers who provide the training, supervision and encourage- ment are very much a part of the sporting supremacy of Halton Hills, as our athletes are recognized — and indeed viewed with some trepidation — at sporting events through- out Ontario. The Toronto Star newspa- per recently polled 265 schools around the Greater Toronto Area and named a record 506 individual high school athletes to its 1993 honor role. Jackie Shaw Recognized for their athlet- ic prowess in Halton Region, were Kristy Johnson and Adam Poyntz of Georgetown District High School; Deanna Louth and Devon Ambrose of Acton High School and Georgetown residents Jackie Shaw and Tom Diardichuk of Bishop Paul Francis Reding Catholic high school in Milton.
